Ultimo Gardens is Ghana’s premier Green focused real estate development by MM Partners. The theme of the development is Green Luxury so it was to be expected that MM Partners would participate enthusiastically in the government’s Green Ghana Day initiative.
The directors and members of MM Partners contributed to the government’s target to plant 5 million trees by holding a tree planting exercise dubbed “Greening Ghana” at the gated community in Airport Residential Area. This exercise was in support of the government’s initiative to re-grow the country’s lost forests and curb the impact of climate change.
Forest cover in Ghana has dwindled to less than a fifth of what it was in the 1990s according to figures from the Forestry Commission of Ghana. This is partly due to increasing urbanization and industrialization. MM Partners will help to reverse this trend through its Green Luxury objective, which aims to promote sustainable living by helping residents at Ultimo Gardens to reduce their carbon footprint. Each home at Ultimo Gardens is powered from both the national grid and 5.4MW solar power generation, has an electric vehicle charging port, recycling waste bins, LED lighting, and a generally well-planted compound comprising expansive foliage.
According to Ghana’s Forestry Commission, Ghana was able to plant 2.7 million out of the targeted 5 million seedlings across the nation and Ultimo Gardens is proud to have been a part of this great achievement. Green Ghana The day is set to become an annual event with the target of expanding the day’s planting target from 5 million to 100 million trees by 2024. Ultimo Gardens aims to join in this initiative, also making this planting exercise a yearly event at the development.
